About us
Gandolfi, a small family-run business, has been proudly owned and operated by the Gandolfi family for three generations. Entirely run by a dedicated team of five, we handle every aspect of our operations, from crafting shoes to managing the website, all from our factory in Wellingborough.
Our team works diligently to create dancewear that not only looks exceptional but also provides dancers with optimal comfort and functionality. We cut, sew, assemble and finish every Gandolfi garment and pair of shoes in-house.
Our hands-on approach allows us to maintain consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to tailor our products to meet the specific needs of dancers.
All Gandolfi pieces are 100% made in the UK. Our team works meticulously to craft each item, ensuring that every piece reflects the exceptional standards associated with British craftsmanship.

Our History
Early 20th Century
Carlo Gandolfi, an Italian immigrant and his English wife Elizabeth opened their first shop in Paddington, London. They started by manufacturing handmade tap and ballet shoes.
Late 1920s
The business began growing and in the late twenties, the shop was moved to Chapel Street/Edgware Road.
1949
Our iconic London shop at 150 Marylebone Road was opened.
By that time, Gandolfi was a complete family affair and all four children: Yolanda, Valentino, Mario and Giovanni were involved. They had all been growing up, chipping in to help the family business. Yolanda did the accounts, Valentino specialised in shoes, and Mario and Giovanni were the salesmen.
1952
We opened our first big factory in Hemel Hempstead and for 30 years all the shoes were manufactured there.
1983
It became worthwhile for the factory to move to a freehold site in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, where it remains today.
2000
After the death of Giovanni Gandolfi in January, the family business was passed over to Derek Gandolfi (Carlo and Elizabeth Gandolfi's grandson and Valentino Gandolfi's son), leaving the business within the family for the third generation.
